Pivotal (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at playpivotal.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over your data.
We believe in minimal data collection. You can play every free story on Pivotal without creating an account or providing any personal information.
What We Collect
Email Address (optional)
Only if you subscribe to our newsletter, “The Pivotal Moment.” We use your email solely to send you the newsletter. We never sell or share your email with third parties for marketing.
Anonymous Analytics Data
We use PostHog to understand how people use Pivotal — which stories are popular, where users drop off, and how we can improve the experience. This data is anonymized and not linked to your identity.
Account Data (optional)
If you choose to create an account, we store your email and profile preferences (such as your chosen role) to personalize your experience and track your progress across stories.
How We Use Your Data
- Newsletter delivery: Sending you “The Pivotal Moment” weekly.
- Product improvement: Understanding which stories resonate, improving the player experience, and fixing bugs.
- Personalization: If you have an account, tailoring story recommendations and tracking your decision history.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to anyone.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies strictly for analytics purposes:
- PostHog analytics cookies: These help us understand aggregate usage patterns. They do not track you across other websites.
- Authentication cookies: If you create an account, a session cookie keeps you logged in.

Data Retention
- Newsletter emails: Retained until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, your email is deleted within 30 days.
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
- Analytics data: Anonymized and aggregated. Individual session data is retained for up to 12 months, then automatically purged.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your personal data. We will process your request within 30 days.
- Opt out of analytics by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser. PostHog respects this setting.

Children's Privacy
Pivotal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@playpivotal.com and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we'll notify newsletter subscribers by email.
